Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee compliance with state and federal regulations regarding special education.
  • Participate in eligibility and Individual Education Program (IEP) meetings as required.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and accuracy of special education records.
  • Track and report data for monitoring systems effectively.
  • Support school principals in the execution of IEPs and adherence to timelines.
  • Plan and coordinate Extended School Year (ESY) services, including personnel allocation and curriculum development.
  • Review and monitor ESY Individual Education Plans and associated sites.
  • Facilitate the transition of exceptional students into mainstream classrooms.
  • Assist in the development of instructional objectives aligned with educational goals.
  • Prepare and adapt curricular materials to meet the diverse needs of exceptional students.
  • Create and distribute teaching resources and guides to enhance program delivery.
  • Coordinate transportation and transfers for exceptional students as necessary.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to local schools in program execution.
  • Collaborate with principals to enhance classroom practices and conduct program improvement meetings.
  • Engage with parents to foster cooperative relationships between teachers and families.
  • Conduct formal observations and provide feedback upon request.
  • Participate in professional development workshops related to special education.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a Master's degree in Administration or Special Education from an accredited institution. A valid Alabama Teaching Certificate in Special Education is required, along with a minimum of five years of successful teaching experience in the field of Special Education.
