Role

As a leading teacher, you will be a highly skilled classroom practitioner who undertakes leadership and management roles commensurate with your salary range. Your primary responsibility will be to improve the skill, knowledge, and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools, and to enhance the curriculum program of the school.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Model exemplary classroom practice, including teaching demonstration lessons, to inspire and motivate colleagues.
  2. Collaborate with the school leadership team to develop a shared vision of highly effective teacher practice, driving school-wide improvement.
  3. Lead and model the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth.
  4. Design and deliver professional learning programs, including observation and feedback processes, to support teacher development and peer collaboration.
  5. Provide evidence-based feedback to teaching staff, informing their effectiveness and development, and promoting a growth mindset.
  6. Offer expert advice on context, processes, and strategies that shape individual and school professional learning, ensuring alignment with school goals.
  7. Supervise and train student teachers, mentoring and coaching colleagues to enhance their practice and student outcomes.
  8. Utilize student data to inform teaching approaches, monitor student growth, and evaluate program effectiveness, driving data-driven decision making.
  9. Develop and promote school-wide professional learning structures, processes, and protocols, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  10. Engage in critical reflection and inquiry to improve practice, seeking feedback from colleagues and leaders to inform your own professional growth.
Requirements

To be eligible for this role, you must be a registered or eligible teacher with the Victorian Institute of Teaching, qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.

Conditions of Employment

Appointment to this role will be subject to a satisfactory pre-employment conditions check. A probationary period may apply during the first year of employment, and induction and support programs will be provided.
