Job Summary

As a Chemical Dependency Recovery Program Counselor II at Kaiser Permanente, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psycho-social services to our members and their families struggling with chemical dependencies and addictions. Under general supervision, you will utilize established therapeutic techniques to assess and treat psycho-social problems, develop treatment plans, and provide individual and group counseling. Your expertise will be essential in helping our patients achieve recovery and improve their overall well-being.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct thorough interviews with patients and their families to identify the extent and effects of chemical dependency, and develop a treatment plan.
  • Provide individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, and HIV risk assessment and counseling as related to chemical dependency, with close supervision and approval from the supervisor.
  • Participate in team discussions to develop and implement effective treatment plans for patients and their families.
  • Collaborate with staff physicians and clinical supervisors to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
  • Prepare and maintain confidential records, including psycho-social assessments and case summaries.
  • Utilize resources from public and private agencies and community organizations to meet the needs of patients.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with representatives from other departments and private agencies.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge in addiction medicine and counseling.
Requirements
  • Minimum of five years paid experience under licensed supervision.
  • Three years continuous sobriety required if working in chemical dependency recovery.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Alcohol/Other Drug Counselor - Clinical Supervisor Certification (California) or equivalent.
Work Environment
