Vocational Nursing Specialist

Under the oversight of the Supervising Registered Nurse (SRN) II/III, Correctional Facility (CF) and the clinical direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), CF, the Vocational Nursing Specialist, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR), delivers fundamental and specialized nursing care to patients across various correctional health care environments. The Vocational Nursing Specialist, CDCR, in accordance with the LVN scope of practice and in partnership with the health care team, guarantees the provision of suitable and prompt health care to patients.
The Vocational Nursing Specialist, CDCR, executes technical patient care under valid authorization from a provider's order and the delegation and clinical guidance of the RN, CF. This role also involves supporting the care team in daily health care operations and effectively communicating with patients and other health care professionals. The Vocational Nursing Specialist, CDCR, is accountable for addressing the ongoing needs of patients, collaborating with physicians and other health care providers, and promoting the efficient, appropriate, and cost-effective utilization of health care resources.
Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a valid, active license from the State of California to practice as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.
