Job Summary

The Computed Tomography Technologist is responsible for operating computerized tomography scanners to produce high-quality images of patients' internal organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. This role requires a strong understanding of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately interpret physician's scanning instructions
  • Administer contrast material and prepare patients for CT scans
  • Operate CT scan equipment and position patients to capture high-quality images
  • Send images to radiologists for interpretation and reading
  • Clean and disinfect scanner and exam rooms
  • Follow infection control and safety guidelines
Requirements
  • Completion of a two-year approved School of Radiologic Technology
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a Radiologic Technologist is strongly preferred
  • Valid New York State radiology registration as required by state law
  • Registry by the American Registry of Radiologic Technology
  • Current CPR/BLS certification is required within one year from hire date
Working Conditions

The Computed Tomography Technologist must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to lift and move patients as needed. The role requires standing for long periods, frequent squatting, twisting, bending, kneeling, and reaching to prepare equipment, materials, or objects in order to provide patient care or maintain the patient environment.

Physical Demands

The role requires medium work, including standing, walking, stooping, bending, reaching, pulling, and lifting as per detail above.
