Quality Inspector/CMM Operator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The individual in this role will be responsible for programming and inspecting components utilizing a Coordinate Measurement Machine (CMM) based on technical drawings and 3-D models.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and documenting part programs for the CMM using PC-DMIS or similar software.
  • Executing First Article and Final Parts Inspection processes to confirm that all specifications and dimensions are met.
  • Primarily employing a CMM to ensure that inspected components fall within specified tolerances. Additional tools such as surface plates, comparators, or other dimensional measurement equipment may also be utilized.
  • Selecting appropriate measurement techniques to enhance the repeatability and reproducibility of the measured parameters.
  • Identifying any out-of-tolerance conditions and documenting them through a Nonconforming Material Report (NCMR) in a computerized database.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS: To be successful in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to fulfill each essential duty independently and effectively. The following qualifications are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required:

  • Expertise in blueprint interpretation, both in English and Metric systems.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in CMM programming using PC-DMIS software.
  • Proficiency in utilizing hand gauging tools and equipment commonly used for surface plate inspections, such as calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, and height stands.
  • Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Experience in machining is advantageous.
  • An Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school is preferred.

LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS:
Fluency in English is essential, with the ability to read, analyze, and interpret manufacturing drawings and technical specifications.

MATH SKILLS:
Must be proficient in basic arithmetic operations, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of numbers, including decimals and fractions. Ability to utilize simple formulas, charts, tables, and specifications is required.
