Objective

Reporting Structure

Job Context & Challenges
  • Coordinate all quality assurance activities during the procurement of services and the acquisition, manufacturing, delivery, and installation of drilling equipment and related services. Operate independently to accomplish tasks while keeping Operations and Quality Leadership informed of progress. Work in both office and field settings. Support Drilling departments and procurement by managing quality assurance/quality control functions in the planning and execution of all well construction activities. Hold primary responsibility for all quality assurance documentation included in bid packages, which may involve supplier assessments, continuous improvement discussions, monitoring supplier performance, and reviewing procedures and specifications for ordering, transporting, and installing physical goods. Evaluate supplier inspection acceptance and rejection criteria, as well as maintenance procedures for drilling and service-related products. Assist in assessing engineering test results related to R&D Projects and Prototype Equipment. Conduct failure analysis and interpret laboratory analysis results of failed components, generating reports with conclusions and recommendations to prevent recurrence.

Safety, Health & Environment
Ensure all activities comply with Company Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality policies, regulations, and standards.

Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement inspection acceptance and rejection criteria, along with maintenance procedures for newly qualified equipment.
2. Provide on-site support as needed during equipment installation and service execution to ensure adherence to company operating procedures and contract specifications.
3. Supervise all critical pre-job inspection activities related to service contractors' equipment.
4. Facilitate effective training and development for Drilling and Completion engineering, operations, procurement, and logistics personnel in the implementation of company-endorsed quality assurance procedures.
5. Establish processes and take primary responsibility for monitoring and benchmarking progress in all quality assurance activities.
6. Offer quality and technical support during clarification meetings with contracts engineers during supplier evaluations.
7. Collaborate with Supply & Procurement to create and maintain a management system to track supplier performance regarding materials and services provided.
8. Provide guidance, training, and advice to other Quality Engineers & Quality Analysts on all QA/QC-related matters.
9. Establish and maintain processes to monitor and benchmark progress in all Quality Assurance activities.
10. Offer on-site assistance during equipment installation and service execution to ensure compliance with company operating procedures and contract specifications.

Candidate Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering is preferred.

Qualifications
Knowledge and Experience
  • 8 years of experience in drilling/oilfield-related inspection, manufacturing, or quality/procurement, with at least 2 years in a role requiring minimal daily supervision. A general background of 5 years in quality assurance/quality control programs related to goods and services used in drilling and completion operations.
Technical and Business Skills
Comprehensive knowledge of sound quality assurance practices. Familiarity with best practices and the latest technology in meeting minimum industry standards and specifications (such as API and/or ISO 9000, ASME, NACE, etc.) for manufacturing, inspecting, transporting, installing, and storing oilfield equipment. General understanding of Oilfield Drilling Engineering and Operations. Experience in Drilling Engineering and Operations is highly desirable. Knowledge of Material Selection/Engineering, Failure Analysis, Root Cause Analysis, Nonconformance Reporting, and Continuous Improvement Systems.
