Position Overview

The role of the Quality Control Manager is pivotal in overseeing and executing quality assurance protocols and systems for the production of ready-mix concrete. This encompasses the evaluation of raw materials, supervision of the manufacturing process, formulation and enhancement of mix designs, and ensuring adherence to industry regulations and client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a workplace culture that prioritizes safety while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the formulation and performance of all concrete mixes, ensuring that materials meet established quality benchmarks through thorough sampling.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive quality control strategies and protocols.
  • Conduct routine inspections and assessments of raw materials, in-process products, and finished concrete.
  • Analyze testing outcomes and provide recommendations for process adjustments.
  • Supervise various testing procedures, including slump tests, air content tests, and strength assessments on concrete samples.
  • Assist clients in addressing quality-related concerns and issues encountered in the field.
  • Support sales and customers in specifying and submitting appropriate mix designs based on project requirements.
  • Coordinate field coverage for on-site quality control activities as necessary.
  • Ensure accurate logging and filing of test results in software systems for timely analysis.
  • Manage compliance with ACI and NRMCA certification requirements and communicate quality control information across relevant departments.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of three to five years of experience in quality control, quality assurance, or operational roles.
  • At least two years of experience in a managerial capacity, preferably as a QC Manager.
  • A degree in engineering, industrial manufacturing, or construction management is preferred; significant industry experience may also be considered.
  • Possession of a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to interpret technical standards and project specifications.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on operational improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective relationship building.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and quality control software.
  • Basic mathematical proficiency.

Physical and Work Environment Requirements

This position requires the ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving objects weighing between 10 to 50 lbs. The work environment may involve exposure to wet conditions, moving mechanical parts, and varying weather conditions.

Additional Skills

Proficiency in Spanish is considered an asset.

Travel and Work Schedule

Willingness to travel and work outside of regular hours, including nights and weekends, may be required.
