Position Overview

Attention: $19 PER HOUR - Hospital-Based Certified Recovery Specialist (CRS)

Gateway Rehabilitation Center is seeking a dedicated Hospital-Based Certified Recovery Specialist to provide essential support and guidance to patients experiencing substance use disorders within a hospital environment. The ideal candidate will reside in the Pittsburgh area, including Allegheny, Beaver, and Westmoreland Counties in Pennsylvania. This role includes regular supervision and professional development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support hospital patients diagnosed with substance use disorders.
  • Facilitate seamless transitions and referrals from the hospital to suitable service providers.
  • Empower recovering individuals to take charge of their recovery and advocacy efforts.
  • Educate and assist hospital staff regarding addiction and recovery processes.
  • Participate in an on-call schedule during evenings and weekends as required.
  • Organize and manage the monthly on-call schedule to ensure adequate CRS team coverage.
  • Document patient interactions and progress in electronic medical records, ensuring timely completion of all documentation.
  • Establish respectful and dignified relationships with patients, maintaining professional boundaries.
  • Teach and support the development of skills necessary for recovery.
  • Promote awareness of available services, options, and community resources.
  • Facilitate connections to community programs and other resources to meet patient and family needs.
  • Encourage the development of wellness, self-esteem, and recognition of individual strengths.
  • Incorporate ongoing feedback into service delivery to address individual needs and goals.
  • Engage in group and individual supervision sessions.
  • Attend departmental meetings and training sessions to enhance performance and service quality.
  • Complete all mandatory training and in-service requirements.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • A minimum of three years of experience working with individuals in the substance use field.
  • Certified Recovery Specialist certification from the Pennsylvania Certification Board is required.
  • Personal experience with addiction and recovery is essential.
Additional Requirements:
  • Successful completion of a PA Criminal Background Check.
  • Obtain PA Child Abuse and FBI Fingerprinting Clearances.
  • Pass a drug screening.
  • Complete a TB test.
  • Must have at least 18 months of recovery from substance dependence.
Work Environment:
  • Hospital setting.
  • Shifts may include evenings and weekends, with occasional local travel.
  • Minimal physical demands.
  • Mental demands involve working with patients in treatment and early recovery.
