Role: Full-time Site Manager for After-School Programs

Schedule: Monday to Friday, approximately 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Reports to: Operations Manager for After-School Programs

Supervises: Team of Youth Development Staff

Position Summary

The Site Manager is essential in driving the effectiveness of our after-school initiatives aimed at elementary-aged children. With a proactive mindset, this individual oversees daily operations, ensures adherence to regulatory standards, and empowers our team of Youth Development Staff. Key responsibilities include crafting engaging schedules, formulating lesson plans, maintaining precise student records, and fostering positive behavior among students. The ultimate goal of this position is to cultivate safe, enjoyable, and enriching environments that promote both academic and social development for elementary students.

Key Responsibilities

Program Management

  • Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming environment in compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Supervise and support elementary students in a secure and enriching setting.
  • Maintain active supervision of students, ensuring visibility and accessibility for intervention.
  • Develop and implement daily and weekly program schedules.
  • Engage actively with students through games, activities, and discussions.
  • Plan and conduct a minimum of four educational sessions each month.
  • Create a lesson plan calendar, assign tasks to Youth Development Staff, and provide constructive feedback.
  • Assist students with personal hygiene needs as required.
  • Support students and enforce behavioral policies as outlined in organizational guidelines.
  • Manage procurement of supplies for activities, tracking expenses to stay within budget.
  • Communicate regularly with parents about student progress and challenges.
  • Educate parents on the check-in and check-out procedures and enrollment processes.
  • Ensure safe transportation for students, which may involve completing necessary training and providing transport as needed.

Record Keeping

  • Maintain comprehensive site documentation with essential student information.
  • Accurately track student attendance and report any enrollment changes.
  • Keep precise records of snacks and other required documentation.

Staff Supervision

  • Identify strengths and areas for improvement among Youth Development Staff, providing guidance and support.
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings to discuss program updates and staff needs.
  • Review and approve staff timekeeping records.
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations for Youth Development Staff.
  • Manage weekly staffing schedules.
  • Report any staff absences to the Operations Manager.
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure compliance with child-to-staff ratios and report any issues promptly.

Data Management

  • Participate in regular evaluations with external assessors.
  • Collaborate with the Director of After-School Programs and external evaluators to complete necessary reporting.

General Responsibilities

  • Embrace and promote diversity within the workplace.
  • Attend scheduled meetings and mandatory training sessions.
  • Complete all required training within designated timeframes.
  • Report any safety or maintenance concerns immediately.
  • Serve as a positive role model for students by being engaged and active.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
  • Report any suspected instances of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Education or Human Development.
  • A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or similar qualification with experience in supervising school-aged children.
  • Two years of college coursework in Education with relevant experience in child supervision.
  • Four years of experience in child care settings with school-aged children.

Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with students, parents, and staff are essential. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required, along with the ability to make informed decisions independently.

Physical Requirements

  1. Ability to stand, walk, sit, manipulate objects, reach, speak, and bend regularly.
  2. Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs as needed.
