Work Schedule: Monday to Friday, approximately 9:30 AM – 6:00 PM
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Out-of-School Time Operations Manager
Supervisory Responsibilities: Oversees Youth Development Professionals and Assistant Youth Development Professionals
Position Summary
The Site Coordinator is essential in facilitating the success of our out-of-school time initiatives aimed at elementary-aged children. With a proactive mindset, this role involves managing daily operations, ensuring adherence to licensing regulations, and empowering our team of Youth Development Professionals. Key responsibilities include crafting engaging schedules, developing educational lesson plans, maintaining precise student records, and fostering positive behavior among students. The ultimate goal is to create safe, enjoyable, and enriching environments that promote both academic and social development for elementary students.
Key Responsibilities
Program Management
- Ensure a safe, clean, and welcoming out-of-school time environment that meets all licensing requirements.
- Supervise and support elementary students in a nurturing and enriching setting.
- Maintain active supervision of students, ensuring proximity to observe and engage with them effectively.
- Develop and implement daily and weekly schedules for the site.
- Engage with students through various activities such as games, discussions, and play.
- Plan and conduct a minimum of four educational lessons each month.
- Create a lesson plan schedule, assign responsibilities to Youth Development Professionals, and provide constructive feedback on lesson plans.
- Assist students with personal hygiene needs, including diaper changes and toileting assistance.
- Support students and enforce consequences as outlined in organizational policies and individual behavior plans.
- Procure necessary supplies for activities, monitor expenditures, and adhere to budget constraints.
- Communicate regularly with parents, sharing both positive feedback and challenges.
- Educate parents on processes such as check-in/out and enrollment.
- Ensure safe transportation for students, which may involve completing driver training and providing transportation when necessary.
Record Maintenance
- Maintain site documentation with essential student information.
- Accurately track student attendance and communicate any enrollment changes.
- Keep precise records of snacks and other required reporting.
Staff Supervision
- Identify strengths and areas for improvement among Youth Development Professionals, providing guidance and support.
- Facilitate weekly meetings for site staff.
- Review and approve timekeeping for Youth Development Professionals.
- Conduct annual performance evaluations for staff.
- Manage weekly staff schedules.
- Report staff absences to the Out-of-School Time Operations Manager.
- Monitor staffing levels to ensure appropriate child-to-staff ratios and report any issues promptly.
Data Management
- Participate in regular meetings with external evaluators.
- Collaborate with the Director of Out-of-School Time Programs and evaluators to complete necessary reporting.
General Responsibilities
- Recognize and appreciate diversity within the workplace.
- Attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Complete all mandated training within specified timeframes.
- Report any safety, maintenance, or equipment issues promptly.
- Serve as a positive role model for students by being an engaged and active team member.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.
- Report any suspected instances of child abuse or neglect to the appropriate authorities.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications include:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or Human Development.
- A valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential or similar qualification focused on school-aged children, along with one year of relevant experience.
- Two years of college coursework in education, emphasizing lesson planning, human development, behavior management, and related fields, plus one year of relevant experience.
- Four years of experience in the care and supervision of school-aged children in a childcare setting.
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential. The ability to make quick decisions and exercise discretion is also required.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, manipulate objects, reach, speak, and bend regularly.
- Capability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs consistently.
