Overview of the Bistro Cook Role:

The Bistro Cook plays a vital role in delivering exceptional service and creating memorable dining experiences for guests. This position involves crafting high-quality dishes that encourage guests to return and share their positive experiences. Key responsibilities include kitchen setup, maintaining cleanliness, and engaging with guests to enhance their dining experience.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Welcome and acknowledge guests in accordance with company standards.
  • Proactively address guests' needs, assist those with disabilities, and express genuine gratitude to guests.
  • Prepare ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and proper food storage.
  • Cook high-quality meals within budget for the Bistro and catered events.
  • Assist management with ordering, receiving, and inventory management.
  • Set up, stock, and maintain cleanliness in work areas.
  • Handle objects weighing up to 25 lbs safely.
  • Adhere to all company safety and security protocols.
  • Check expiration dates on food items to ensure freshness.
  • Report any accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions.
  • Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information to safeguard company assets.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a valid Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain one.
  • Legal age to serve alcohol (18 years) and/or prepare alcoholic beverages (21 years).
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to prepare and cook food following recipes and quality standards.
  • Experience operating various kitchen equipment.
  • Capability to accommodate special dietary needs and requests.
  • Proficient in English for reading, writing, and verbal communication.
  • Physical ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods.
  • Knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drink recipes.
  • Understanding of alcohol laws and dining service procedures.
  • Prior experience in a hotel environment is highly desirable.
