  • Company Background: Established in 1995, with headquarters in Shenzhen, China, and a US presence since 2008. The US division comprises approximately 30 employees, featuring a production facility and multiple offices.
  • Engineering Team Structure: The engineering department encompasses various products, currently staffed by 4 engineers and 2 senior managers reporting to the Technical Team Director.
  • Management Role: Initially, the role may not involve direct reports; however, as the team expands, opportunities for management will arise.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical engineering initiatives for the design, development, and production of consumer electronic products.
  • Oversee the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and components, ensuring adherence to performance standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the creation and upkeep of technical documentation, including design specifications, schematics, and BOMs.
  • Assess mechanical performance and reliability through rigorous analysis and testing of components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer engineering, manufacturing, NPI, and quality assurance, to enhance product design for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
  • Provide mentorship to junior mechanical engineers on design methodologies, analytical techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical design challenges, offering guidance and support for resolution.
  • Drive initiatives for continuous improvement in mechanical design processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • Function as a "working manager" by performing senior mechanical engineering tasks, including the development and analysis of mechanical design concepts and prototypes to meet performance and functional standards.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; a Master's degree is preferred, and a Ph.D. is advantageous.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the consumer electronics sector.
  • 1-3 years of experience in engineering team leadership or management.
  • Experience in part/module-level design to top assembly design, with specific expertise in Cooling Systems, AI Servers, Motor Modules, Mesa Modules, Haptic Modules, and Hinge Modules.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design principles for consumer electronics, including display, acoustic, antenna, EE, HWTE, and RF systems.
  • Demonstrated success in leading new product launches and product design initiatives, with experience in product or process development and qualification.
  • Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD modeling software such as Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Unigraphics.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and secondary operations, including CNC machining, polishing, laser etching & welding, PVD, blasting, and adhesive dispensing.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools (FEA) and analytical techniques.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, DOE, and statistical process control methods (SPC, CPK).
  • Advanced proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Interview Process:

The interview process will consist of 2-3 rounds, including a technical interview, an HR interview, and a final interview with the Director or General Manager.

Additional Information:

As a company rooted in China, we specialize in contract manufacturing for numerous consumer electronics brands. Employees are provided with ample opportunities for rapid learning and professional growth within the consumer electronics manufacturing sector. Night meetings are common due to collaboration with colleagues and clients based in China. The engineering team operates on-site from 9:30 AM to 5 PM PST, with flexibility for late arrivals following late meetings.
