Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead mechanical engineering initiatives for the design, development, and production of consumer electronic products.
  • Oversee the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and components, ensuring adherence to performance standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage the creation and upkeep of technical documentation, including design specifications, drawings, and bills of materials.
  • Assess mechanical performance and reliability through rigorous analysis and testing of components and assemblies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer engineering, manufacturing, new product introduction, and quality assurance, to enhance product design for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
  • Provide mentorship to junior mechanical engineers in design methodologies, analytical techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical design challenges, offering guidance and support in resolution efforts.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to refine mechanical design processes, tools, and methodologies.
  • As a hands-on manager, perform Senior Mechanical Engineer duties, including developing, constructing, and analyzing mechanical design concepts and prototypes to meet performance criteria while ensuring functionality and aesthetic standards through documentation and tolerance analysis.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred, Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the consumer electronics sector.
  • 1-3 years of experience in engineering team leadership or management.
  • Experience in part/module-level design to top assembly design, with a focus on Cooling Systems, AI Servers, Motor Modules, Mesa Modules, Haptic Modules, and Hinge Modules in consumer electronics manufacturing.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical design principles and structures for consumer electronics, including display, acoustic, antenna, electrical engineering, hardware technology, and RF systems.
  • Demonstrated success in leading new product launches and product design, with experience in product or process development, launch, and qualification.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modeling software such as Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Unigraphics.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and secondary operations, including CNC machining, polishing, laser etching and welding, PVD, blasting, and adhesive dispensing.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools (FEA) and analytical techniques.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical process control methods (SPC, CPK).
  • Advanced proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Interview Process:

The interview process consists of 2-3 rounds, including a technical interview, an HR interview, and a final interview with the Director or General Manager. Candidates in the Bay Area may be required to attend an on-site interview for the final round.
