Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct and manage mechanical engineering initiatives for the design, development, and production of consumer electronic products.
  • Oversee the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and components, ensuring adherence to performance specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise the development and upkeep of technical documentation, including design specifications, schematics, and bill of materials (BOM).
  • Assess the mechanical performance and reliability of components, subsystems, and assemblies through rigorous analysis and testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including customer engineering, manufacturing, new product introduction (NPI), and quality assurance, to enhance product design for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior mechanical engineers on design methodologies, analytical techniques, and industry best practices.
  • Identify and address mechanical design challenges, offering support for troubleshooting efforts.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives to refine the mechanical design process, tools, and methodologies.
  • As a "working manager," engage in senior mechanical engineering tasks, including the development, construction, and analysis of mechanical design concepts and prototypes to fulfill performance criteria while ensuring functionality, assembly, and aesthetic standards through documentation and tolerance analysis.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline; Master's degree preferred, Ph.D. is a plus.
  • 5-10 years of mechanical engineering experience in the consumer electronics sector.
  • 1-3 years of experience in engineering team leadership or managerial roles.
  • Experience in part/module-level design through to top assembly design. Experience with Cooling Systems, AI Servers, Motor Modules, Mesa Modules, Haptic Modules, and Hinge Modules in consumer electronics manufacturing is essential.
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical design principles for consumer electronics, including display, acoustic, antenna, electrical engineering, hardware technology, and RF systems.
  • Demonstrated success in leading and supporting new product launches, product design, and experience in product or process development, launch, and qualification.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD modeling software such as Creo, NX, SolidWorks, or Unigraphics.
  • Familiarity with various manufacturing processes and secondary operations, including CNC machining, polishing, laser etching and welding, PVD, blasting, and adhesive dispensing.
  • Hands-on experience with simulation tools (FEA) and analytical methods.
  • Strong knowledge of GD&T, engineering drawing interpretation, design of experiments (DOE), and statistical process control techniques (SPC, CPK).
  • Advanced proficiency in both written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin Chinese.
  • Willingness to travel internationally up to 25% of the time.

Interview Process:

The interview process consists of 2-3 rounds, including a technical interview, an HR interview, and a final interview with the Director or General Manager. Candidates located in the Bay Area may be required to attend an on-site interview for the final round.
