Principal Mechanical Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the development, qualification, and delivery of high-performance space RF systems for on-orbit environments. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the design, testing, and deployment of these systems, ensuring they meet all technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and implement technical work plans for the design, testing, and deployment of high-performance space RF systems.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to succeed in their roles.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize component and system designs, ensuring they meet all technical, cost, and schedule requirements.
- Interface with customers and stakeholders to ensure that their needs are met and that the systems delivered meet their expectations.
- Conduct stress, modal, and thermal analysis to ensure that the systems designed meet all requirements.
- Develop and maintain a full system design and its associated documentation, including CAD, drawings, ICDs, BOMs, and other relevant documents.
- B.S. in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or other space-related discipline with a minimum of 12 years of industry experience or a Master's with a minimum of 10 years of experience.
- Experience as a mechanical design lead in development, qualification, and delivery of high-performance space HW/RF systems for on-orbit environments and developing technical work plans.
- Strong experience with designing mechanical space hardware best practices, including materials, coatings, COTS, GD&T, NASA standards, and other relevant guidelines.
- Expert knowledge of SolidWorks and experience using SolidWorks PDM.
- Experience leading and mentoring junior engineers and preparing and leading project stage-gate meetings.
- US citizenship is required, as this position will involve working with classified information.
- Minimum 12+ years' experience in space industry, including developing, building, and testing space flight hardware.
- Experience with mechanical space hardware design and aerospace guidelines, including GSFC-STD-7000A (GEVS), AIAA S, NASA-STD-5017, MMPDS, and other relevant standards.
- Strong understanding of design for manufacturability and experience optimizing designs for production and ASME Y14.5 GD&T standards.
- Experience and training in safe handling protocols for flight hardware, including cleanroom and ESD standards.
- Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, Thermal Desktop, NASTRAN, or ANSYS is a plus.
