Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at II-VI Aerospace & Defense. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing opto-mechanical systems for various applications. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop opto-mechanical systems for various applications, including atmospheric sensing and imaging, adaptive optics, and optical communications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, including design specifications, test procedures, and technical reports.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide technical guidance to junior engineers.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and advancements in the field of opto-mechanical engineering.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in opto-mechanical engineering, with a strong background in design and development.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Experience with CAD software, such as SolidWorks or CATIA.
  • Knowledge of FEA and CFD analysis.
  • Experience with optical metrology and alignment instruments.
  • Knowledge of thermal, vibrational, and shock analysis methods.

Working Conditions
  • Job operates in a professional office environment.
  • Routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
  • Work in a cubicle office.

Physical Requirements
  • Walk occasionally to access file cabinets, office machinery, etc.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
  • Use hands/fingers to type/handle: Operating a computer and other office productivity machinery.
  • Sedentary Work: Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.

Quality and Environmental Responsibilities
This position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of the ISO 9000, 9001, 14001, AS9100, and/or other applicable standards that may apply to the relevant roles and responsibilities within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System.
