As a Lead Mobile Solutions Engineer within our Digital Journey Product sector, you will collaborate within a highly skilled agile team dedicated to enhancing Discover's award-winning mobile application by leveraging the latest platforms for continuous integration and cloud development.

The Lead Mobile Solutions Engineer brings a wealth of experience in delivering impactful software solutions and operates with intuition. This role is essential in troubleshooting and resolving challenges efficiently. Lead Engineers are adept in (re)design and prioritize documentation alongside coding.

As the Technical Anchor of the team, the Lead Mobile Solutions Engineer promotes collaboration, mentors peers, and provides strategic guidance while contributing to the development of modern software. Approach the role with a product-oriented mindset, ready to innovate, develop, and sustain mobile solutions that meet business objectives and delight our users.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops solutions that address significant technological and business priorities.
  • Demonstrates proficiency across various contexts, including programming languages, security, automation, testing, and business domains, becoming a trusted resource for many within and outside the team.
  • Engages in strategic technology discussions and understands the broader implications of these decisions for Discover.
  • Proactively identifies and addresses issues using intuition and experience across multiple domains.
  • Mentors technology communities within Discover.

Essential Qualifications:

To qualify, you should possess:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 6+ years of experience in Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Internal candidates must have a technical proficiency rating of proficient on the Dreyfus engineering scale.

Preferred Qualifications:

Additional qualifications that would be advantageous include:

  • Leadership experience, including cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience in system design and architecture.
  • Expertise in object-oriented design and implementation, with a deep understanding of our frameworks and languages.
  • Experience in mobile application development.
  • Familiarity with React Native, Redux, and frontend application frameworks.
  • Experience with RESTful Web Services development.
  • Proficiency with test automation tools such as Selenium, Appium, Cucumber, etc.
  • Knowledge of JavaScript, GitHub, and Git command line is a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins or similar tools.
  • Strong debugging skills and the ability to collaborate with peers to resolve complex issues.
  • Experience as part of an Agile engineering or development team.
  • Experience applying security principles to mobile applications.
  • Understanding of software testing principles and methodologies.
  • Proven skills in designing for high availability and scalability, along with performance monitoring.
