Position Overview:
The Senior Electrical Engineering Team Leader is a pivotal, full-time role focused on overseeing a dedicated team of five (5) to ten (10) Electrical Engineers engaged in the design and enhancement of upstream and midstream oil and gas facilities, power generation plants, and various industrial infrastructures.

Key Responsibilities:
This role involves tackling complex challenges that encompass the investigation, troubleshooting, and resolution of diverse electrical engineering problems.

The Team Leader will manage all facets concerning their direct reports, which includes:

  • Recruitment, training, and mentoring of team members.
  • Ensuring the quality of deliverables through rigorous quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) processes.
  • Conducting performance evaluations and implementing performance improvement plans.
  • Facilitating project resource coordination with other supervisors and directors.

Additionally, the position requires:

  • Collaboration in business development and proposal efforts.
  • Assisting in the recruitment and interviewing processes.
  • Enhancing departmental standards through continuous improvement initiatives.

Project Management Support:
Assist project management in aligning systems design activities to guarantee compliance with specifications, codes, and client expectations. This includes:

  • Analyzing resource requirements and effectively organizing and allocating resources.
  • Utilizing departmental budgeting tools for manpower planning.
  • Reviewing project budgets and timelines periodically.
  • Tracking and approving paid time off (PTO).

Team Collaboration:
Facilitate weekly team meetings and actively participate in departmental discussions.

Technical Expertise:
Prepare and assess detailed calculations, including:

  • Three-phase power transient studies.
  • Voltage drop analyses.
  • Protective relay settings.

Prepare documentation necessary for design inputs for drawing production and interface with vendors to develop specifications for materials and equipment purchases.

Employee Development:
Conduct timely employee evaluations and development plans, coach and train team members, and hold individual one-on-one meetings with direct reports.

Reporting and Reviews:
Generate reports and studies that convey technical information clearly and concisely, adhering to client requirements and Sargent & Lundy formats. Perform independent reviews of work completed by others, including calculations and drawing preparations.

Proposal Participation:
Engage in proposal efforts by:

  • Developing budgets.
  • Identifying project scope and resource needs.
  • Reviewing schedules and providing feedback on proposal documents.
  • Facilitating the transition to assigned resources at project initiation.

Staffing and Onboarding:
Utilize department utilization forecasts to determine staffing needs, participate in the interview process, and lead the onboarding of new hires.

Project Leadership:
Lead and manage electrical-only projects as necessary.

Qualifications:
Applicants must possess a BSEE degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program; an MSEE is preferred. A PE license is required.

Candidates should have:

  • Over 10 years of experience in power plant or industrial facility design, emphasizing integrated, detailed system design for new or modified facilities in the Oil and Gas sector.
  • Experience in equipment selection, materials, control philosophy, and preparation of calculations and specifications.
  • Expertise in electrical system design, including medium and low voltage distribution systems, communication systems, and analytical calculations.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly MS Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience acting as a liaison between firms and clients in a support or lead engineering capacity.
  • Experience reviewing design calculations and drawings from other engineers.

This position may require occasional travel.
