We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Materials and Process Engineer/Sr. Principal Materials and Process Engineer to join our team at Northrop Grumman. This role will be responsible for analyzing, researching, and developing materials and their related application processes for use in engineering design of and/or application in structures, systems, and subsystems.
Key Responsibilities- Apply principles of chemistry, physics, and material science to investigate material issues and provide solutions.
- Work in a team environment with other engineering organizations performing detailed technical reviews of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing plans.
- Develop and implement process improvements to enhance material performance and efficiency.
- Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM-related field with 5 or more years of engineering experience or MS in STEM-related field with 3 years of engineering experience or PhD in STEM.
- Active in-scope DOD Secret clearance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access (SAP/PAR).
- Familiarity with composite pre-pregs, honeycombs, and adhesive materials; Fabrication, assembly, and repair processes for aircraft composite structures, familiar with metallic materials and processes.
- Experience with working on military aircraft.
- Experience preparing and presenting oral and written reports.
- Master's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Material Science.
- Experience with material Obsolescence issues and qualifying materials.
- Experience with LO materials.
- Competitive salary range: $97,500 - $146,300.
