Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS) sector is seeking a Materials & Process (M&P) Functional Homeroom Section Manager (Aeronautical Engineering Manager 2) to join our diverse and skilled team.

This role will provide support within the Vehicle Engineering directorate.

Position Overview:

In this capacity, you will oversee a multidisciplinary engineering team of around 15 professionals, managing all pertinent leadership responsibilities.

This is a hands-on managerial position that encompasses both functional oversight (approximately 20%) and technical execution (approximately 80%) on a designated program.

The technical responsibilities primarily involve the analysis, research, and development of materials and their associated application processes for engineering design and application in structures, systems, and subsystems.


Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new conceptual designs, detailed engineering plans for structural composites, modifications, integration of advanced materials, and conduct drawing evaluations.

- Execute comprehensive technical assessments of drawings, specifications, and manufacturing strategies in collaboration with other engineering teams.

- Engage in Workforce Planning alongside the functional homeroom, including staffing, recruitment, and onboarding initiatives.

- Advocate for positive transformation within the organization to secure a competitive edge for the division and sector.

- Enhance personnel and organizational technical competencies and experience with aircraft subsystems.

- Collaborate with Human Resources to address and resolve personnel matters.

Essential Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) field and 9 years of applicable experience; OR a Master's degree in a related STEM field and 7 years of applicable experience.

- Proficiency in Materials & Processes with demonstrated technical ownership in requirements analysis, architecture development, integration, testing, and/or verification.

- Familiarity with aerospace design and verification methodologies, including requirements development and verification, preliminary and detailed design, MRP, Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, and Maintenance.

- Must possess an active DoD Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled in Continuous Evaluation).

- Must have the capability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to commencement.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in Material Science, Metallurgy, Chemistry, or a related field.

- Experience with composite aerospace structures.

- Prior experience in a leadership role within a technical engineering context.

- Proven leadership skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a team setting.

- Strong communication and presentation capabilities.

- High proficiency in technical problem-solving.

- Current DoD Top Secret clearance.

Compensation Range:
$151,900 - $227,900


The aforementioned salary range serves as a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers various factors when determining base salary offers, such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, along with the candidate's experience, education, skills, and prevailing market conditions.

Employees may qualify for a discretionary bonus in addition to base compensation. Annual bonuses are designed to recognize individual contributions and allow employees to share in company outcomes. Employees in Vice President or Director roles may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.

Additionally, Northrop Grumman offers a range of benefits, including health insurance, life and disability insurance, savings plans, company-paid holidays, and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and personal business.
