Position Overview:

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Senior Principal Quality Engineer or Staff Quality Engineer to enhance our quality assurance efforts within the Aeronautics Systems sector. This role is based in Palmdale, California, and is not eligible for telecommuting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement quality assurance principles to ensure adherence to contractual, regulatory, and organizational standards.
  • Facilitate the coordination and execution of engineering activities, ensuring all Integrated Product Team (IPT) plans meet the required quality, completeness, and detail.
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive Mission Assurance plan aligned with contractual obligations and stakeholder objectives.
  • Promote and implement continuous improvement initiatives, identifying and executing tasks to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of organizational processes.
  • Conduct investigations into quality issues, utilizing root cause analysis and corrective action strategies.
  • Adapt to a dynamic work environment with high expectations, engaging in diverse assignments and collaborative efforts across all organizational levels.
  • Assess technical issues, provide expert guidance, and devise resolution strategies.
  • Support and guide all engineering processes throughout the project lifecycle.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace) with a minimum of 9 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree with 7 years; or a PhD with 4 years.
  • Proven ability to operate with minimal supervision in a multidisciplinary team environment, offering insights and solutions to complex technical and procedural challenges.
  • Comprehensive understanding of engineering systems and Department of Defense specifications and standards.
  • Experience with system engineering principles and tools.
  • Track record of leading process improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Corrective Action methodologies.
  • Experience with AS9100/ISO9001 Quality Management Systems.
  • Active DoD Secret Clearance and capability to obtain and maintain Special Program Access.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Engineering (electrical, mechanical, systems, aerospace).
  • Active Top Secret Security Clearance with program access.

Compensation:

The salary range for this position is between $120,900 - $181,300 and $149,900 - $224,900, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional benefits include health insurance, life and disability insurance, a savings plan, and paid time off.
