Job Overview

Position Summary:

As an IT Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for:


• Assessing hardware, software, and system specifications along with configuration requirements.


• Implementing patch management, system fixes, and ensuring compliance for all assigned systems.


• Planning, installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Microsoft Hyper-V, Microsoft Server 2008 R2, Server 2012 R2, Server 2016, and client products across various networks.


• Providing user support in account management, enterprise applications, desktop applications, and peripheral devices.

Required Education and Experience:


• At least 7 years of experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining Windows and Linux Operating Systems, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, NTP, Certificate Authority, Group Policy Objects, and related core infrastructure components in an enterprise setting.

Essential Skills:


• In-depth knowledge of Microsoft applications (SCVMM, Hyper-V, WSUS, SCDPM, SCOM, etc.).


• Ability to identify and implement automation opportunities to streamline repetitive tasks.


• Proficiency in configuring and implementing iSCSI/CIFS/SMB3 and NFS protocols.


• Experience in scripting and/or programming (PowerShell, VB Script, BASH, Ansible, or similar).


• Familiarity with Storage Virtual Machines (SVMs), Cluster Shared Volumes (CSV), Logical Interfaces (LIFs), RAID DP, Aggregates, and Volumes.


• Strong experience in deploying and managing System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) across multiple Hyper-V host clusters.


• Proven experience in deploying and maintaining Microsoft Failover Clustering.

Security Clearance Requirements:


• Must possess an active/valid DoD TS/SCI-eligible clearance; applicants must maintain clearance in active/valid status.


• Clearance investigation must be recent, not older than 5 years and 6 months at the time of application.


• Willingness to undergo and successfully pass a CI polygraph examination.

Certification Requirements:


• Must hold an active/valid DoD M IAT-II certification (Security +) and maintain its currency.

Preferred Qualifications:


• Hands-on experience with iSCSI/CIFS/SMB3 and NFS protocols, along with scripting and/or programming skills.


• Experience in supporting and implementing various infrastructure technologies, including Cisco UCS B and C series servers, and managing fabric resources.


• Practical experience in identifying and implementing automation solutions.


• Familiarity with System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM) deployment and maintenance, particularly with Hyper-V servers and guests.


• Experience with MS SQL server solutions.


• Knowledge of System Center Operations Manager (SCOM).


• Networking experience, including routing, switching, VLANs, and firewalls.


• Experience collaborating with third-party vendors on Blade Servers, NAS/SAN technology, and Linux Automation.


• Skills in developing documentation.

Physical Requirements:


• Ability to sit or stand for extended periods.


• Capability to type and read from a computer screen.


• Sufficient mobility for bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily tasks efficiently.


• May require walking moderate to long distances due to parking and work location.

Work Environment:


• Office setting with sedentary physical effort, including the potential for lifting weights up to thirty (30) pounds.


• No unusual hazards or environmental conditions present at the job site.


• Compliance with COVID-19 mitigation measures as established by the DoD and USAF is mandatory.

Equipment and Machines:


• Proficiency in operating office equipment such as personal computers, printers, copiers, telephones, and other necessary tools.

Attendance:


• This role supports an operational work center providing extensive coverage during standard work hours. Shift work may be required based on mission needs.


• Regular attendance is crucial, particularly for deadlines and meetings.


• Flexibility in work hours is essential to accommodate surge situations based on critical mission requirements.

Other Essential Functions:


• Ability to work assigned shifts on a rotational or permanent basis.


• Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.


• Strong organizational and time management abilities, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.


• Professional demeanor when interacting with customers, management, and colleagues.


• Clear and concise communication skills in English, both verbal and written.


• Independent transportation to the work site is required.


• Travel to customer locations may be necessary to support projects, which may involve airline travel.


• When operating any vehicle for work purposes, adherence to safety protocols is mandatory.
