Position Overview

Under the supervision of the Risk Assessment and Mapping Section (RAMS) Manager, the Senior Engineer specializing in Water Resources plays a crucial role in supporting the development and application of flood hydrologic and hydraulic models. These models are essential for the Division of Flood Management's (DFM) initiatives, including Central Valley and Statewide Watershed and Floodplain Risk Assessment, Flood Planning and Feasibility Studies, Emergency Response, and the maintenance of flood systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialized technical support for the creation of floodplain risk information management systems.
  • Collaborate closely with various professionals within the Department of Water Resources (DWR), including engineers, engineering geologists, environmental scientists, and representatives from local and federal agencies.
  • Engage with local emergency managers, floodplain managers, planners, and technical consultants to ensure comprehensive flood management strategies.

Additional Information

This position requires a valid California driver's license and a license to practice Civil Engineering in the State of California.
