Your Role
As a Principal Civil Engineer, you will be instrumental in providing strategic consulting services to a diverse array of clients, including local, regional, state, and federal entities. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive on analyzing client needs, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and influencing the future of infrastructure and design management.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME), leading and reviewing civil engineering designs focused on flood risk management and infrastructure for large-scale federal projects.
- Oversee the design team's work in creating studies, drawings, and documentation for civil engineering projects.
- Evaluate and validate civil engineering analyses, ensuring designs meet project objectives and adhere to engineering principles.
- Represent Stantec in client meetings, addressing technical inquiries and ensuring design integrity.
- Manage civil works and infrastructure projects from initial design through to construction.
- Engage with clients to define project scope, budget, and timelines, fostering collaboration among team members.
- Review engineering documents for technical accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare essential engineering documentation, including design memoranda and specifications.
- Coordinate tasks among a multidisciplinary team to optimize project efficiency.
- Serve as a liaison with federal and public agencies to develop project designs.
Essential Skills and Experience
- In-depth understanding of federal project requirements and strong relationships with relevant agencies.
- Familiarity with California's policies, regulations, and local technical conditions.
- Proven project management and design management capabilities.
- Experience collaborating with local, state, and federal agency personnel.
- Must be located in California or willing to relocate.
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are required.
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Professional Engineer license in California.
- A minimum of 20 years of relevant experience in federal planning, design, and construction processes.
- Experience with complex flood risk management and infrastructure projects involving multiple agencies.
