POSITION OVERVIEW
The Construction Safety Officer plays a crucial role within the organization.

The successful candidate will support the Director of Risk Management and the Project Team in implementing safety protocols, processes, and procedures aimed at preventing health hazards or injuries stemming from chemical, physical, and biological agents or ergonomic factors.

This role offers the chance to gain practical experience in conducting inspections, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Collaborate with the Director of Risk Management to develop procedures that safeguard employees from potentially dangerous work methods, processes, or materials.

Manage administrative tasks, including data entry for incident reporting and maintaining records in accordance with company protocols.

Assist in the investigation of incidents to identify root causes and recommend preventive measures.

Support the project team in evaluating workplace environments, equipment, and practices to ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.

Regularly update Health and Safety Plans (HASP), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), and other safety documentation as required.

Coordinate safety training sessions and ensure all employees possess the necessary certifications and training for their roles.

Conduct scheduled and unscheduled safety audits at job sites, enforcing safety protocols and reporting violations.

Assist with daily safety inspections of tools, equipment, and materials.

Facilitate the completion of incident reports and investigations.

Promote a culture of safety and zero accidents across all company operations.

Coordinate drug and alcohol testing as necessary.

Ensure compliance with the Safety Program, OSHA regulations, and company policies to maintain safe working conditions.

Perform additional tasks as directed by the Director of Risk Management or project team.

Meet background check and fitness for duty requirements as mandated by project specifications.

Possess a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Flexibility in work schedule and location within the designated area is essential.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
1-3 years of experience in a safety role within the construction sector.
Familiarity with Health and Safety Plans (HASP) and Job Hazard Analysis (JHA).

Completion of OSHA 30-hour construction safety training or equivalent, with ongoing education in safety and health topics every four years.

Knowledge of construction industry standards, OSHA regulations, and safety practices at federal, state, and local levels.
Certifications such as CHST, STS, or OSHA 500 are advantageous.

TECHNICAL SKILLS
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Familiarity with project management and financial software is a plus.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

Regular commuting to field locations is necessary, with the ability to navigate job sites.
