Overview:


MDS Staffing is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer (FSE) who will be tasked with the assessment and installation of technical equipment, collaborating with contractors on-site to ensure successful deployment and providing updates on project progress.

Responsibilities include maintaining, diagnosing, and repairing client equipment as necessary. Conduct in-house evaluations and documentation.

This role is a full-time salaried position. Standard working hours are Monday to Friday, typically from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Due to the demands of our industry, occasional additional and/or off-hours work may be required.

Extended periods of extra and/or off-hours work will be discussed between the employee and supervisor and compensated through additional PTO or one-time bonuses.


Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Installation and troubleshooting of low and medium voltage switchgear, automatic transfer switches (ATS), circuit breakers, protective relays, and control systems.
  • Provide technical assistance for field startups, warranty claims, and maintenance agreements.
  • Diagnose and assist in configuring control systems utilizing PLC/HMI platforms.
  • Travel (occasionally overnight and during off-hours) as necessary to support the installation, startup, and maintenance of equipment.
  • Conduct product testing and report on test outcomes.
  • Assist with updates to redline drawings.
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with manufacturers and vendor representatives.
  • Address customer disputes and inquiries promptly to ensure fair resolutions that enhance customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a positive, professional image of the company in all communications with customers, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Stay informed about product updates and regulatory changes.
  • Develop and deliver training on client applications.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in a Field Service role.
  • Proficiency in programming PLCs and HMIs.
  • Familiarity with 3-phase power systems is preferred, including power distribution, AC/DC, voltage circuit theory, and practical troubleshooting skills.
  • Training in electrical theory and technologies, with a preference for knowledge of low and/or medium voltage electrical equipment.
  • Experience with diesel power generation controls, including paralleled systems.
  • Strong background in electrical power, including low and medium voltage, and experience with various types of switchgear testing.
  • Ability to read schematics and blueprints for power control, automation, and customer technical support.
  • Excellent problem-solving, project management, and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • This position requires the ability to sit, bend, or stand for extended periods.
  • Capability to operate testing equipment safely and effectively.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and night shifts; this may involve travel.
  • Must carry a mobile phone and be available for customer calls.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license in good standing.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid United States passport for international travel.
