Personal Banker II

Classification: Non-Exempt

Service Standards

Objective

The primary aim of this role is to proactively cultivate new business opportunities and enhance existing customer relationships in alignment with the bank's Mission and Vision. The Personal Banker will evaluate and address customers' banking requirements, process customer/account information and transactions, and promote bank deposit and loan products and services. This role may also involve consumer loan origination and closing, account setup, safe deposit transactions, and branch operational procedures. Continuous personal development and skill enhancement are encouraged and supported through ongoing training and mentorship from management.

This position reports directly to the Branch Manager.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a professional representative of the bank, ensuring that each customer's experience is characterized by courtesy, friendliness, confidentiality, and expertise.
  • Provide prompt, efficient, and accurate service for all transactions and service requests, whether conducted in person or via phone.
  • Complete all required compliance, regulatory, and internal training satisfactorily.
  • Open new deposit accounts in accordance with compliance protocols. Process consumer loan applications and facilitate document signing and loan closings. Manage access to safe deposit boxes, update existing accounts, and perform additional deposit services such as direct deposits, wire transfers, and stop payments.
  • Employ effective sales techniques, including identifying customer needs through questioning and benefit statements to ensure a valuable customer experience.
  • As a participant in the Retail Banking RoadMap Incentive Plan, meet individual performance expectations contributing to branch and departmental objectives.
  • Achieve or surpass individual sales and referral goals while delivering exceptional customer service throughout all interactions.
  • Adhere to disclosure requirements and comply with state and federal regulations, including consumer privacy policies, CIP, and Funds Availability.
  • Maintain a general understanding of services offered through Independence Financial Advisors (IFA) to identify referral opportunities for investment and insurance.
  • Foster a positive customer experience within the branch to build loyalty and strengthen relationships.
  • Follow all operational controls, including legal, corporate, and regulatory policies to ensure the safety and security of customer and bank assets.
  • Enhance consumer and business customer relationships by effectively recommending suitable bank products and services.
  • Address account service issues and respond to customer inquiries in a timely and effective manner.
  • Manage cash transactions, ensuring compliance with cash drawer limits and security protocols.
  • Balance cash drawer daily, adhering to established guidelines and performance standards.
  • Update customer relationship management systems with relevant information.
  • Ensure the security of all non-public personal information (NPPI).
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the bank's products and services and demonstrate proficiency in electronic delivery solutions.
  • Promote teamwork across all areas.
  • May provide limited supervisory guidance, including system overrides and branch opening/closing procedures.
  • Assist with daily branch operations, including vault balancing and maintenance of cash advance terminals.
  • Comply with all safety, security, and soundness policies.
  • Accurately identify customers to protect both the customer and the bank from potential losses.
  • Determine proper funds availability based on regulatory requirements and issue hold notices as necessary.
  • Process customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and other banking services.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A minimum of one year of prior retail banking or retail sales experience with a general understanding of banking regulations and products is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written communication abilities are essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of bank products and services is necessary.
  • Demonstrated tact and diplomacy in customer interactions.
  • Strong organizational skills are required.
  • A valid driver's license is necessary as occasional travel may be required.
  • A pre-employment evaluation may be necessary.
Work Environment

This role involves moderate physical effort and may require dexterity and visual attention for operating front-line computer terminals and other office equipment. Physical effort may include handling materials and supplies, including transporting currency to and from the vault. Employees may be seated or standing for extended periods with regular movement.

The work environment is well-lit and ventilated.
