Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Insurance Account Manager to join our team at Tompkins Community Bank. As an Insurance Account Manager, you will be responsible for developing and expanding our commercial lines business by identifying new sales opportunities and building strong relationships with our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sales and Business Development: Sell new and renewal accounts to meet or exceed agency and individual goals.
  • Account Management: Renew existing book of business to meet or exceed agency retention goals and create cross-sell opportunities for current insureds.
  • Referral Development: Actively identify referral opportunities for our affiliates.
  • Field Services: Provide field services in support of sales duties.
  • Prospecting and Lead Generation: Develop prospects through an organized direct solicitation program, referrals from present accounts, affiliates, and other contacts.
  • Proposal Development: Develop all information and recommendations for prospective accounts, present proposal, and adhere to agency policies and procedures for writing new accounts.
  • Quoting and Underwriting: Conduct quoting process in association with agency-defined policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Account Rounding and Upselling: Identify account rounding/up-selling opportunities and process accordingly.
  • Client Service: Maintain a concern for timeliness and completeness when interacting with clients, agency, and company personnel to minimize potential for E&O claims.
  • Special Projects: Perform special projects at management's request.
Supplementary Duties
  • Community Involvement: Join local community organizations and attend community events after work as a means of marketing the Agency in the community.
  • Community Networking: Actively participate in the community in a manner that reflects favorably on the Agency.
  • Community Development: Develop a presence in the community networking with local leaders and the business communities.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment that is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
  • Compliance and Regulatory: Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of compliance and procedures including all regulatory requirements.
Qualifications
  • Education: B.S. or B.A. degree in a related field normally preferred; specialized insurance training or experience preferred.
  • Experience: Minimum two years in a similar position is desirable and must be licensed per state of NY/PA requirements.
  • Skills: Proficient mathematics skills; proficient interpersonal relations and communicative skills, a high analytical ability; a working knowledge of commercial line account policies and procedures; moderate computer skills, including knowledge of on-line data system; visual and auditory skills; and valid and acceptable driver's license.
  • Personal Qualities: Must be assertive and a self-starter with the ability to influence others.
  • Communication Skills: Demonstrated effective presentation skills through both verbal and written communications.
