Materials Management Leader

As a key member of our team at Chapin International, Inc., you will be responsible for overseeing the activities of the Material Department, which includes purchasing and inventory control. Your expertise will be crucial in buying supplies and materials at the optimal price and delivery cycle while meeting all inventory target levels critical for the attainment of business goals.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead a cross-functional staff of international and domestic purchasing/planning agents.
- Plan and oversee a robust cycle count process to ensure the high velocity, high-value inventory items are monitored.
- Responsible for the departmental budget for the materials group.
- Review all proposed and received orders to ensure vendor compliance and recommend vendor changes when necessary.
- Partner with the Accounting Department to lead the annual physical inventory process.
- Oversee, direct & participate in procuring materials and components, including identifying & evaluating new vendors, setting proper lead times and buying parameters, and identifying best cost vs. quality. Oversee new vendor setup.
- Work with the production planning department, planning material needs to support demands.
- Create, submit, and expedite purchase orders.
- Provide reports monitoring KPI's for DOS, material spending and other information to management team.
- Site visits to suppliers' facilities as necessary.
- Training & evaluation of the buyer/planner staff.
- Actively participate and or lead cross-functional teams through CMS and S&OP that drive continued success and profitability.
- Work with all departments to find cost savings in products and services.
- Degree in Business with major course work in Purchasing and/or inventory control management.
- 5 years' experience in purchasing with at least 2 years in a management position.
