Satellite Communication Systems Specialist

Effective communication is essential for the military to execute successful operations. The role of the Satellite Communication Systems Specialist is to guarantee that communication channels remain operational by installing, managing, and servicing both strategic and tactical multi-channel satellite communication systems.
Key Responsibilities
As a Satellite Communication Systems Specialist, your duties will include:
- Transmitting, receiving, and documenting messages in accordance with military protocols.
- Encoding and decoding classified communications.
- Operating telephone switchboards.
- Installing, maintaining, and operating various communication devices.
- Monitoring and responding to urgent communication requests.
Advanced Responsibilities
In addition to the standard duties, advanced specialists will:
- Provide technical guidance to fellow personnel.
- Identify and report instances of electronic interference.
- Implement suitable electronic countermeasures.
Skills Development
During your training, you will acquire valuable skills such as:
- Utilizing diverse communication equipment.
- Working with encrypted codes.
- Maintaining and caring for communication devices.
Essential Skills

Compensation and Training
In the Army National Guard, you will earn a salary while learning these essential skills. Training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training to develop foundational soldiering skills, followed by 18 weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT), combining classroom instruction with field exercises under simulated combat conditions.
