Position Overview:
The Assessment Technician I/II positions are responsible for performing essential technical tasks related to the upkeep of county assessment records. Under general supervision, these roles involve the management of master property records, personal property records, and the calculation of assessments.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct clerical and technical duties in the production and maintenance of county assessment rolls.
- Maintain comprehensive records and indexes that include ownership, mailing addresses, property locations, sales data, and mobile home licenses.
- Process various property-related documents such as parcel splits, address modifications, recorded documents, property statements, and building permits.
- Verify appraisal calculations for accuracy.
- Analyze legal documents to identify reappraisable events for tax assessment purposes.
- Manage exemptions, exclusions from reappraisal, and supplemental assessments.
- Collaborate with external agencies and the public regarding assessment operations.
- Provide detailed explanations of assessments to taxpayers.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Knowledge of office equipment operation, including computers and standard software applications.
- Understanding of state revenue and taxation laws relevant to assessment rolls.
- Ability to read and interpret legal documents and perform mathematical functions accurately.

Training and Experience:
- Equivalent to high school graduation.
- Assessment Technician I: No prior experience required.
- Assessment Technician II: Minimum of two years in a role comparable to Assessment Technician I, demonstrating knowledge of computer applications and assessment operations.

Special Requirements:
- Valid California driver's license is required.
- New Assessment Technicians must obtain a temporary Assessment Analyst certificate and achieve full certification within the probationary period.
