Position Overview

The Assessment Technician I/II positions are responsible for performing essential technical tasks related to the management and updating of county assessment records. This includes maintaining comprehensive property records, calculating assessments, and executing related duties as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct clerical and technical tasks in the creation and upkeep of county assessment records.
  • Maintain detailed records and indexes concerning ownership, addresses, property locations, and sales data.
  • Process changes such as parcel splits, address modifications, and property statements.
  • Verify appraisal calculations for precision.
  • Prepare and organize various documents and materials.
  • Analyze legal documents to identify events requiring reassessment for tax purposes.
  • Manage exemptions and corrections related to assessment records.
  • Engage in records management activities associated with the Assessor's Office.
  • Prepare correspondence for various stakeholders including attorneys and the public.
  • Provide clear explanations regarding assessments to taxpayers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Knowledge:
Understanding of standard office equipment operation, computer applications, and effective communication methods.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to operate office equipment, learn new software, and adapt to varying assignments.

Experience:
Equivalent to high school graduation.

Special Requirements:
Possession of a valid California driver's license is necessary.
