Position Overview

Join our dynamic team at the Flying Cow Café, where we are committed to delivering exceptional food service experiences.

As a Culinary Team Member, you will play a vital role in the preparation, cooking, and serving of a variety of food items, contributing to the overall success of our café:

  • Prepare, season, cook, and bake food according to established recipes while adhering to portion control standards. Adjust recipes and production quantities under the guidance of a supervisor.
  • Deliver outstanding guest service in a professional manner to both internal and external customers at all times.
  • Ensure the highest quality of food is maintained throughout the preparation and serving processes.
  • Prepare food items for individual servings while following portion control guidelines.
  • Estimate food quantities and prepare time, labor, and material estimates for assigned tasks. Maintain inventory and food service records, and operate various kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, mixers, and slicers.
  • May be responsible for operating the cash register.
  • Ensure the operational readiness and safety of kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Comply with university and health department quality standards.
  • Advise supervisors on the quantity and quality of food and supplies needed.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM.


Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: No prior experience required.

Skills:

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in using kitchen and dish room tools.
  • Knowledgeable in safe and sanitary food handling practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret routine written materials, including menus and instructions.
  • Capable of managing varying workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Working Conditions:

This role requires physical and mental endurance for a fast-paced environment. Regular exposure to temperature variations, odors, and noise levels is expected. Candidates must be able to bend, lift, stoop, and carry up to 30 lbs.

Environmental Working Conditions:

Willingness to perform shift work and maintain uniforms, including head coverings.
