Position Overview

Join our dynamic team at the Flying Cow Café, where we are seeking dedicated individuals through PEAK Temporary Staffing Services.

This role involves being an integral part of our food service team, focusing on the preparation, cooking, and serving of food items, along with various related responsibilities to ensure the efficient operation of the Flying Cow Café:

  • Prepare, season, cook, and bake food items according to established recipes while adhering to portion control standards. Adjust recipes and production quantities under the supervision of a manager.
  • Deliver exceptional guest service in a professional manner to both internal and external customers at all times.
  • Maintain the highest quality of food during preparation and service.
  • Prepare food items for individual servings while following portion control guidelines.
  • Estimate food quantities, prepare time, labor, and material estimates for assigned tasks. Manage inventory, food consumption, and other food service documentation. Operate various kitchen equipment such as ovens, grills, mixers, and slicers.
  • May be responsible for operating the cash register.
  • Ensure the operational readiness and safety of kitchen equipment and supplies.
  • Comply with university and health department quality standards.
  • Provide feedback to supervisors regarding food quantity and quality, as well as supply needs.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:45 AM to 3:15 PM.


Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Experience: No prior experience required.

Required Skills:

  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong customer service abilities.
  • Proficient in using kitchen and dish room tools.
  • Knowledgeable in safe and sanitary food handling practices, as well as the operation of food processing equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret routine written materials, including menus and instructions.
  • Capable of managing varying workloads and meeting deadlines.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Physical Working Conditions:

This position requires physical and mental endurance for fast-paced and demanding tasks. Regular exposure to temperature variations, odors, and noise levels; must be able to bend, lift, stoop, and carry up to 30 lbs.

Environmental Working Conditions:

Willingness to perform shift work and maintain uniforms, including head coverings.
