The Commonwealth of Virginia is seeking a Laboratory Research Associate to become an integral part of their research team. This position involves supporting clinical trials focused on diabetes management. The work schedule may vary, including weekends, evenings, and daytime hours, with a significant emphasis on direct patient engagement. Candidates must comply with HIPAA regulations regarding patient health information and should demonstrate reliability and meticulous attention to detail.

The ideal applicant will have a solid understanding of Windows operating systems and possess the capability to learn and troubleshoot new technologies. Familiarity with Android devices and Bluetooth connectivity is advantageous. Previous laboratory experience and certifications in CPR, CITI, and Bloodborne pathogen training are highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing and addressing technical issues related to computer systems, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and Android devices during clinical studies.
  • Managing data effectively, which includes organizing, coding, categorizing, and electronically storing information.
  • Processing and handling laboratory specimens with care.
  • Setting up, organizing, and sanitizing study equipment.

Compensation: The hourly wage for this position ranges from $15 to $18, contingent upon the candidate's experience. This is a wage position without benefits, limited to 1500 hours of work annually.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience: At least 1 year of laboratory experience; a Bachelor's degree may substitute for experience.
  • Licensure: Not required.

Physical Requirements:

This position necessitates extended periods of standing and squatting during experiments or animal care. It also involves tasks such as keyboarding, bench work, and fine motor skills for animal procedures.
