Job Title: Research Associate, Department of Pediatrics

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Virginia's School of Medicine is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Associate to join our team. As a Research Associate, you will play a critical role in supporting the research of our faculty members, contributing to the development of new treatments and therapies for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research tasks and experiments under the guidance of faculty members
  • Collect and analyze data, and present findings in a clear and concise manner
  • Collaborate with faculty and staff to advance research goals and objectives
  • Develop and implement research protocols and procedures
  • Provide technical support and training to graduate and undergraduate students
Requirements:
  • Doctoral degree in a relevant field (e.g., microbiology, immunology, pediatrics)
  • Experience in laboratory techniques, including RNA/DNA isolation and sequencing, histological techniques, bacterial isolation and culture, and experience working with laboratory animal models
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Working knowledge of laboratory techniques, including RNA/DNA isolation and sequencing, histological techniques, bacterial isolation and culture, and experience working with laboratory animal models
  • Background in microbiology and/or immunology and experience with gnotobiotic animals
