Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Oversee the operations of the Community Development Department, including land use planning, building code regulation, and community development programs.
  • Collaborate with other county departments and external stakeholders to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage budgets for departmental programs and services.
  • Supervise and evaluate departmental staff, including hiring, training, and performance management.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in planning, geography, public administration, or a related field.
  • 10 years of experience in land use planning, building code regulation, and community development, including 5 years of supervisory experience.
  • Certification from the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
  • Strong knowledge of Oregon's land use planning system and building codes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in planning, geography, public administration, or a related field.
  • Experience in municipal budget preparation and administration.
  • Experience in economic development and small business development and retention.
  • Experience in real estate finance and development.
  • Experience in Oregon Building Codes and Construction.
