Position Overview:

The Multimedia Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in the design, installation, and upkeep of Audio-Visual/Multimedia (AV/MM) systems. This position also entails the programming and configuration management of both developmental and operational AV/MM systems.

Required Experience:

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five (5) years of experience as an AV/MM Engineer, demonstrating proficiency in at least seven (7) of the following skill sets within the last seven (7) years:

  • Analog, SDI, and HD SDI signal processing and conversion
  • Digital video filtering and scalable video coding
  • Compression and decompression techniques
  • Encoding and decoding of television standards such as ATSC, QAM, NTSC, PAL
  • Signal theory and analysis
  • Audio processing
  • Sound reinforcement and speaker placement
  • Sightlines, screen size, and projection distances
  • AES/EBU or AES3 digital audio interlace standards
  • Cable termination (Fiber, copper, audio, etc.)
  • Set-up and maintenance of various HD/SD broadcast equipment
  • Integration of audio and video teleconferencing systems
  • Set-up of digital video effects systems
  • Operation and set-up of various production switchers
  • Operation and maintenance of audio mixers
  • Integration of wired/wireless microphone systems and configurations
  • Design and installation of audio support systems
  • System integration
  • Custom fabrication of parts and cables
  • Installation of low voltage wiring and cable; soldering and termination of connectors; wiring of equipment
  • Two (2) years' experience in VidCAD or other CAD programs within the past five (5) years
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience in Crestron programming within the last nine (9) years.

Required Qualifications:

A Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline from an accredited institution is mandatory. Alternatively, four (4) years of additional AV/MM experience in the aforementioned areas may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree, totaling nine (9) years of experience.

Certification as a Technology Specialist (CTS) and/or CTS-Installation and/or CTS-Design training certification is preferred.

An active TS/SCI Clearance with Polygraph is required.

Required Skills:

The candidate must have experience programming CRESTRON AV systems and interfacing with Cisco VTC equipment. Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing operational guides.
  • Training clients in the effective use of AV/MM systems.
  • Providing system programming to support implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Crestron-based AV/MM systems.
  • Offering Tier 1 (Help Desk) problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Managing daily operations and configuration activities of AV/MM systems.
  • Assisting users in accessing and utilizing AV/MM systems.

Additionally, the role involves designing a variety of AV/MM solutions, including multi-level security VTC/PC systems, enterprise-level VTC and collaboration systems, conference rooms, digital signage, and streaming.

The Multimedia Systems Engineer will act as the equipment custodian, performing inventory asset management and accountability functions, documenting hardware and software configuration management processes and procedures, and coordinating hardware installations across multiple locations.

Other responsibilities include maintaining and developing the environment for hardware and software product build, staging, testing, and integration, as well as applying concepts to define and implement hardware and software configuration management processes.

Conducting analysis on AV/MM systems to ensure designs are cost-efficient, integrable, and reliable is also essential. The candidate will communicate with other engineering personnel to coordinate interrelated designs and ensure project completion.

Key tasks include designing, documenting, and developing code for programmable devices, analyzing complex hardware systems, performing testing on equipment, providing hardware maintenance support, deploying and implementing new AV/MM systems at client sites, conducting site surveys, and streamlining control system interfaces to enhance user experience.

Finally, the candidate will be responsible for configuring control systems, communication devices, and peripheral equipment, developing costing proposals for the program manager, performing telecommunications punch block installation and maintenance, and interpreting drawings, specifications, and other related documents.
