Position Overview

The Multimedia Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, installation, and upkeep of Audio-Visual/Multimedia (AV/MM) systems. This role also encompasses the programming and configuration management of both developmental and operational AV/MM systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop operational documentation and guides.
  • Provide training to clients on the effective use of AV/MM systems.
  • Implement system programming to facilitate the deployment, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Crestron-based AV/MM systems.
  • Offer Tier 1 support for problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution.
  • Oversee daily operations and configuration tasks of AV/MM systems.
  • Assist users in accessing and utilizing AV/MM systems.
  • Design diverse AV/MM solutions, including secure video teleconferencing (VTC) systems, enterprise-level VTC and collaboration setups, conference rooms, digital signage, and streaming services.
  • Act as the custodian for equipment and manage inventory and asset accountability.
  • Document hardware and software configuration management processes.
  • Coordinate hardware installations across various locations.
  • Maintain and enhance the environment for hardware and software product build, staging, testing, and integration.
  • Define and implement hardware and software configuration management processes, including the creation of product build scripts.
  • Conduct analyses on AV/MM systems to ensure designs are cost-effective, integrable, and reliable.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to coordinate interrelated designs and ensure project completion.
  • Design, document, and develop code for programmable devices.
  • Analyze complex hardware systems and address technical hardware issues.
  • Perform equipment testing and provide both preventative and remedial hardware maintenance support.
  • Deploy, install, and implement new AV/MM systems as required.
  • Conduct site assessments.
  • Streamline control system interfaces to enhance user experience.
  • Configure control systems, communication devices, and peripheral equipment.
  • Develop cost proposals for project management.
  • Perform telecommunications punch block installation and maintenance.
  • Interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Qualifications

Required:

  • TS/SCI clearance with client-level polygraph.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of four (4) years of additional AV/MM experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree, totaling nine (9) years of experience.

Technical Skills:

  • Five (5) years of experience as an AV/MM Engineer across at least seven (7) of the following skill sets within the past seven (7) years:
  • Analog, SDI, and HD SDI signal processing and conversion.
  • Digital video filtering and scalable video coding.
  • Compression and decompression techniques.
  • Encoding and decoding of television standards.
  • Signal theory and analysis.
  • Audio processing and sound reinforcement.
  • Speaker placement and sightlines.
  • Cable termination and setup of broadcast equipment.
  • Integration of audio and video teleconferencing systems.
  • Operation and maintenance of audio mixers and production switchers.
  • Custom fabrication of parts and cables.
  • Installation of low voltage wiring and soldering of connectors.
  • Experience with VidCAD or other CAD programs.
  • Proficiency in Crestron programming.

Desired Skills:

  • Programming of CRESTRON AV systems.
  • Configuration of Cisco VTC Systems.
  • Knowledge of security protocols, audio processing, and AV-over IP.
  • Certification as a Crestron Programmer or related certifications is preferred.
