Job Description

Orlando Economic Partnership, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Vice President of Government Affairs and Advocacy. This is a management-level position that requires a strong understanding of government relations, public policy, and legislative affairs.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Partnership's advocacy and public policy strategic objectives, while effectively representing the organization in the community. This includes maintaining contact with state and federal public policy officials, attending regulatory and legislative hearings, and providing timely information and communications to raise awareness of policy issues.

The ideal candidate will have experience in legislative affairs, public policy, and government relations, with a solid understanding of governmental and political processes. They will also possess high-level problem-solving abilities, interpersonal savvy, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Represent the Partnership's interests to local, state, and federal government officials.
  2. Research and analyze state and federal public policy issues impacting the region.
  3. Maintain active communication with the Board of Directors, investors, and media as requested.
  4. Plan and coordinate the Partnership's participation in briefing trips to Tallahassee and Washington, DC.

Qualifications and Core Competencies:

  1. Experience in legislative affairs, public policy, and government relations.
  2. High integrity and ability to deal in a confidential environment.
  3. Solid understanding of governmental and political processes.
  4. Experience with key leaders, state and local government processes in Florida.
  5. High-level problem-solving abilities, using both analytical and abstract thinking.
  6. Interpersonal savvy, comfortable across all business hierarchies.
  7. Proven ability to manage many priorities.
  8. High attention to detail.
