Position Overview:
The Registered Nutrition Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional nutritional care and services to patients at OakBend Medical Center. This position involves working closely with the Lead Clinical Dietitian to develop and implement comprehensive Medical Nutrition Therapy tailored to individual patient needs.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Coordinate and oversee patient nutrition services to ensure optimal food quality and nutritional support.
2. Utilize knowledge of developmental principles to assess and address the dietary requirements of patients across all age groups.
3. Conduct thorough screenings and comprehensive nutrition assessments, creating personalized care plans that align with established healthcare standards.
4. Provide nutrition education and counseling to patients and their families, particularly those with complex medical conditions.
5. Engage in interdisciplinary care planning, contributing to team discussions and collaborative decision-making.
6. Deliver in-service training sessions for staff and act as a mentor for Dietetic Interns and HOSA students.
7. Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and community outreach presentations.

Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelor's degree in nutrition or dietetics from an accredited institution, along with completion of an approved internship program.

Experience:
Preferred one year of clinical nutrition experience within a healthcare setting.

Licenses/Certifications:
- Registered Dietitian with the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Eligibility for Registered Dietitian status must be achieved within six months of employment.
- Texas Licensed Dietitian must be obtained within six months of employment.
- ServSafe Food Safety Certification is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:
- Proficient in computer applications; strong communication and counseling skills are essential.
- Bilingual communication in Spanish is an advantage.

Work Schedule:
Flexibility in scheduling is required, including weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the hospital and its patients.
