Position - Clinical Nutrition Specialist

Location - Richmond, IN (Onsite)

Overview of Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities associated with this position include:


• Overseeing food service operations to ensure adherence to nutritional standards and safety protocols.


• Evaluating nutritional requirements, dietary restrictions, and existing health plans to formulate and execute dietary-care strategies while providing nutritional guidance.


• Educating patients and staff on nutritional guidelines, dietary plans, dietary adjustments, and food selection and preparation techniques.


• Collaborating with healthcare professionals to assess patients' nutritional needs and dietary limitations.


• Documenting dietary histories, assessments, charts, and progress notes.

Qualifications:


• Optional registration as a dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.


• In-depth knowledge of the principles, methods, and terminology associated with contemporary dietetics and institutional management acquired through experience.


• Familiarity with modern techniques, materials, and equipment utilized in large-scale food service and the necessary care to conserve resources.


• Capability to design menus and supervise staff in the preparation and service of modified and standard diets.


• Proficiency in conducting training programs related to food service and/or nutrition.


• Ability to collaborate effectively with treatment teams, medical and administrative personnel, and patients.

Accountability:

While not the ultimate authority, the incumbent must exercise discretion in applying alternatives and consulting with medical/nursing staff and dietary supervisors regarding atypical dietary issues or concerns. Uncommon problems or deviations from guidelines are discussed with a supervisor, who periodically reviews work for the achievement of objectives.

Interpersonal Relationships:

Engages with patients, physicians, and other clinical staff as necessary, along with hospital department heads, students, commercial vendors, the general public, and community organizations.
