As a Dependency Case Manager Apprentice, you will gain comprehensive knowledge of the Dependency Case Manager role and the Child Welfare System. This position includes a structured training program led by our primary agency, alongside practical experience through shadowing current case managers. Upon completion of the training, you will be required to pass a certification examination administered by the Florida Certification Board.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn to perform child safety evaluations and home assessments. Review pertinent records related to the child's family background, educational behavior, and health history.
  • Identify and assess potential resources that promote family preservation, early reunification, or alternative permanency planning. Facilitate the delivery of referrals and services to clients and families in collaboration with other professionals.
  • Assist in ensuring the implementation of court-approved plans for children and families. Monitor case plans, gather reports from service providers, and evaluate family needs to expedite children's permanency.
  • Prepare judicial review reports in accordance with CFCE and State of Florida guidelines. Clearly explain court proceedings to children, when appropriate, to ensure their active involvement.
  • Collaborate with supervisors, DCF attorneys, and other professionals as necessary. Communicate the needs of children and families to the court through written reports. Provide testimony in court or CRP regarding reunification, termination of parental rights, or other permanency plans.
  • Support children, caregivers, and family members to ensure stability and timely achievement of permanency. Assist families and caregivers in accessing subsidies, medical coverage, and other essential services for children.
  • Coordinate services with the child's educational staff, probation officers, therapists, foster parents, and other caregivers as needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a human services-related field from an accredited institution.

Experience Requirements:

  • A minimum of twelve months of relevant experience working with children and families if the Bachelor's degree is in a non-human services-related field.

  • Proficient in computer use.
  • Strong assessment skills and intervention strategies.
  • Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
  • Capable of accurately observing and reporting on the functioning of individuals and families.
  • Competent in handling confidential information responsibly.
  • Adept at identifying and understanding environmental stressors.
  • Skilled in setting appropriate limits and boundaries with clients.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
