Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty, Biology to join our team. As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will be responsible for teaching Biology courses at a variety of times and locations. You will create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. You will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.

The ideal candidate will have a master's degree or higher in theoretical or applied biology or life sciences or a master's degree or higher with 18 graduate credit hours in theoretical or applied biology or life sciences. You will have excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, and be able to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people.

This is a part-time, adjunct position, and you will be required to teach a maximum of five classes per academic year. You will be paid $53.82 per contact hour. Benefits include tuition waiver, participation in a tax deferred retirement plan, professional development opportunities, and more.

Responsibilities

  1. Teach Biology courses at a variety of times and locations
  2. Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  3. Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  4. Utilize a course syllabus for each course
  5. Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  6. Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  7. Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  8. Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  9. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned



Requirements

  • A master's degree or higher in theoretical or applied biology or life sciences or a master's degree or higher with 18 graduate credit hours in theoretical or applied biology or life sciences
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people
