Job Summary

Lone Star College is seeking a highly qualified Adjunct Faculty member to teach Business Administration courses. The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in management/business/administration or a Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in management/business.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material. They will also submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner, utilize a course syllabus for each course, and meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods.

The Adjunct Faculty member will evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress. They will also maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community, attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required, and be responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned.

The successful candidate will demonstrate mastery of course content, leadership skills, excellent oral and written communication skills, and interpersonal skills. They will also be able to appreciate alternative viewpoints, work effectively with a wide variety of people, and demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, exceptional service, and providing a dynamic climate for life-long learning.

The Adjunct Faculty member will be able to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning, develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology. They will also be able to utilize a variety of teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach Business Administration courses at a variety of times and locations
  • Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
  • Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
  • Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
  • Meet with and advise students either before or after class or by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
  • Evaluate students to measure their progress in achieving course objectives and inform students in a timely manner of their progress
  • Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
  • Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
  • Be responsible for other reasonable, related duties as assigned

Working Conditions:

  • The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

Salary:

$53.82 per contact hour.
