Role Responsibilities
The primary focus of the Business Development Manager is to initiate, cultivate, and finalize solar and storage projects, presenting multi-technology solutions through our PowerFlex X energy management platform and our patented EV charging systems for large enterprises across North America. This role involves managing key client relationships through insightful solar consultations and exceptional customer service throughout the project origination and development phases.

The Business Development Manager will foster enduring relationships that lead to repeat business, coordinate internal project teams, and collaborate with marketing, project development, analytics, engineering, and construction teams at PowerFlex to deliver comprehensive and consultative services to our enterprise clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish and nurture new and existing relationships with corporate leaders and energy/facility/property managers to explore and execute solar and storage projects.
  • Promote our expanding EV charging and Energy Management Software solutions as part of the PowerFlex suite.
  • Generate new accounts and opportunities through various channels, including cold outreach, email campaigns, targeted marketing, networking, and participation in industry events.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to address significant issues related to financial, legal, energy, technical, and tax considerations of solar and storage projects.
  • Provide strategic guidance on project structuring, market insights, and consultation on portfolio projects.
  • Manage a diverse pipeline of projects through the sales cycle, ensuring consistent volume and balance across project types, markets, customer segments, and project sizes.
  • Monitor market dynamics by engaging with industry policy groups, maintaining relationships with policy stakeholders, and staying informed on market developments.
  • Lead responses to RFPs in close collaboration with internal support teams.
  • Work with project development, financing, and legal teams to negotiate and finalize project contracts.
  • Build and manage internal and external networks with strategic channel partners.
  • Encourage a collaborative team environment that delivers exceptional service and results for clients.
  • Document all sales activities in Salesforce.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in the solar or renewable energy sector is required.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in Business Development and/or Sales.
  • Previous experience in structuring high-value project transactions and portfolio deals.

Skills and Competencies

  • Proven track record in commercial solar project sales with large enterprises.
  • Demonstrated ability to prospect and develop a pipeline for solar and storage projects.
  • Experience negotiating and executing complex third-party owned project transactions.
  • Strong understanding of project and structured finance.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of relevant solar policies, trends, utility incentives, and state incentives.
  • Ability to structure complex multi-site and multi-market project portfolios.
  • Extensive experience with Salesforce, including report and dashboard creation.
  • Ability to prioritize high-value tasks and maintain project momentum.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work within interdisciplinary teams while effectively communicating sales objectives and strategies.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently when necessary.
  • High energy and results-oriented, with a strong work ethic and commitment to excellence.

Compensation
The salary range for this position is $115,000 - $192,000 annually. This role is eligible for PowerFlex's comprehensive Health and Welfare benefits, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) retirement plan, and paid time off. Total compensation may also include an annual performance bonus or other incentive compensation, as applicable. PowerFlex carefully considers candidates' qualifications, experience, and education in relation to the position.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods, up to four hours at a time.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to fifteen pounds.
  • Willingness to travel to client sites as needed.

Working Conditions
This role may require travel for in-person client meetings, conferences, and site visits. The primary work environment is an office setting, with occasional field visits that necessitate standing, walking, and documenting existing conditions. Regular use of a computer and office equipment is expected, along with occasional movement within the office to access files and equipment.
