Overview of Manufacturing Engineering at Cardinal Health

The Manufacturing Engineering team is dedicated to the innovation of production methodologies, layout optimization of manufacturing facilities, and the development of essential tools. This team evaluates new designs for their manufacturability and implements process enhancements aimed at lowering costs, minimizing cycle times, and elevating product quality.

Position Summary

The Senior Manufacturing Process Engineer role encompasses overseeing project management, defining specifications, designing, installing, and initiating plant processes along with support systems. The individual in this position will spearhead initiatives to lower operational expenses through various cost-reduction strategies, enhance process management, and improve machinery reliability. Additionally, this role involves providing guidance and mentorship to the technical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement hands-on improvements in manufacturing processes to address technical challenges.
  • Conduct assessments of current conditions related to identified issues and determine necessary modifications to boost production efficiency and decrease defects and waste.
  • Revamp existing machine components to enhance functionality by integrating or altering sensors, supports, or workstations.
  • Manage Capital Expenditure Request (CER) projects, including:
    • Defining project scope, estimating capital and operational costs, and establishing timelines.
    • Ensuring timely project completion within budget constraints.
    • Reviewing mechanical designs for safety, quality, efficiency, and dependability.
    • Verifying that new equipment complies with all relevant safety and environmental standards.
    • Overseeing the completion of technical documentation, budget schedules, resource allocations, and mechanical drawings.
    • Conducting validations as necessary.
    • Designing, constructing, and developing operational protocols for devices based on project specifications.
    • Utilizing statistical software and quality tools (e.g., Process Maps, C&E Matrix, FMEA, Design of Experiments) to validate process modifications or continuous improvements.
    • Delivering project presentations to plant personnel and other stakeholders as required.
    • Acting as a Team Leader or Champion for CAPA projects as directed.
    • Collaborating with Corporate Engineering, R&D, and OEM departments to support new equipment or product lines.
    • Providing indirect leadership to project teams.
    • Drafting Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
    • Regularly creating and executing validation protocols.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, ideally in electrical engineering.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design and Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) preferred.
  • Effective use of CAD software for various manufacturing engineering applications preferred.
