Position Overview:
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you will play a crucial role in the evaluation and design of highway structures. Your expertise will be essential in reviewing plans and technical documents, ensuring compliance with established standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Conduct thorough reviews of Category 1 highway structures plans and related technical documentation.
2. Assist in the evaluation of moderately complex Category 2 structures plans, including continuous post-tensioned girders and substructure components.
3. Provide recommendations based on contractor-initiated submittals to construction teams.
4. Perform structural analysis and design, including quantity calculations and preparation of plans for various in-house projects.
5. Oversee Quality Assurance/Quality Control reviews of design calculations and plans, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
6. Develop scopes of services and staff hour estimates for both Department and Consultant design projects.
7. Collaborate with Technical Review Committees and contribute to Value Engineering Studies as required.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, candidates must possess:
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in accordance with applicable statutes.
- Comprehensive knowledge of structural engineering principles and practices.
- Proficiency in utilizing structural design and analysis software, as well as Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools.
Skills and Abilities:
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret complex engineering documents.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively coordinate with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to adapt to varying project needs and establish effective working relationships.
