Job Overview

Key Responsibilities
Under general supervision, serves as the primary project leader on-site to strategize, implement, and finalize control systems initiatives with designated clients. Engages in or assigns tasks as necessary to ensure the successful execution and completion of designated projects, encompassing hardware configuration, system programming, installation oversight, system and network commissioning, and project closure. Accountable for the overall financial performance of assigned projects, including expenses, project invoicing, and collections. Strives to maintain a productive balance between client satisfaction and project financial outcomes. Actively seeks opportunities for additional work through change orders. Facilitates communication with clients throughout all project phases. Ensures proper warranty execution. Provides guidance to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative staff as needed. Ensures compliance with state, local, and federal regulations while upholding the highest ethical standards. Promotes adherence to safety protocols among Johnson Controls personnel and subcontractors.

Execution Strategy

Completes standard installation hardware design and software programming in accordance with established protocols as required. Delivers comprehensive information to convey design and operational details to clients, Johnson Controls personnel, and subcontractors.

  • Proactively seeks additional project work through change orders. Assesses the contractual scope of work and the implications of client-issued bulletins, field directives, and/or scheduling modifications. Communicates both technical and business-related matters with clients.
  • Oversees the selection, procurement, budgeting, and delivery timeline of materials necessary for assigned projects.
  • Secures pricing and availability from external vendors and suppliers, including mechanical and electrical subcontractors, and may solicit multiple bids during the pricing process. Manages subcontractor payment and invoicing procedures.
  • Coordinates job site logistics for panel and field device placements. Ensures installation aligns with Johnson Controls documentation and project specifications.
  • Manages and executes the loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validates overall system functionality and addresses issues with subcontractors and others to ensure proper operation. Provides accurate project documentation and commissioning records.
  • Oversees financial aspects, invoicing, and collections. Ensures timely and precise project billing to clients while maintaining profitability targets and positive cash flow.
  • Offers coaching, mentoring, and technical support to System Technicians, Electrical Installers, and System Designers. Provides technical guidance to subcontractors. Ensures that delegated tasks are completed accurately, on schedule, billed appropriately, and within budget and contract scope.
  • Effectively communicates project status to management as needed and provides monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margins.
  • Issues warranty letters to clients upon substantial project completion and ensures proper warranty execution.
  • Develops project plans and coordinates necessary resources to guarantee timely and cost-effective installation and completion of assigned projects.
  • Conducts site-specific training for owners/operators on the complete system, ensuring they are adequately trained. Provides necessary documentation and manuals for system operation.
  • Fosters and maintains strong long-term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Participates in job progress meetings as required.
  • Adheres to safety standards, demonstrating a high regard for employee and subcontractor safety.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Minimum of a technical associate's degree with two years of field experience or four years of equivalent relevant experience in the HVAC sector.
  • Demonstrated technical hands-on experience in systems design and commissioning of digital HVAC control systems.
  • Ability to convey technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • Proven capability to work independently.
  • Strong proficiency in personal computer applications.
  • Knowledge of control theory and HVAC systems.


Desirable:

  • Familiarity with project accounting, cost principles, and contracting preferred.
